It's a giant e-commerce that gathers information about their clients' shopping habits and personal preferences. In Patterson's novel, the Store is not just a rinky-dink mom-n-pop store.

Sad thing is, some people at the top are quick to forget that success doesn't last forever. Let the people decide where they feel most comfortable shopping. Enjoy some healthy competition with other similar retailers.

America, at one time, was all about free enterprise. While this book does go to a few extremes, I will say that it points out that the size of 'the Store' is so big that it's taking over everything. This book takes some not-so-subtle digs at online retailers who have become commercial giants. Who can you trust? Why would anyone go to such extremes to protect 'the Store'? Is it worth your life? It draws you into a complex web of secrets and constant surveillance. But.I believe an exception can be made with 'The Store.' I've been told that the co-authored novels are not anywhere near as good as his own work. I think this is my second James Patterson novels.
